Wolvercote Cemetery - JRR Tolkien Grave

We thought it might be nice on occasions to add some information and photos of certain Churches Chapels Crematoriums & Cemeteries that we have either live streamed or helped with funeral videography or funeral audio visual equipment over the years

This page is for Wolvercote Cemetery which is famous for JRR Tolkien Grave and many other famous people

Wolvercote Cemetery, Oxford UK

On Friday the 19th May we helped one of our Funeral Directors with a client who wanted Funeral Videography at The chapel at Wolvercote Cemetery, Banbury Road, Wolvercote, Oxford OX2 8EE, UK

There are many famous people buried there including JRR Tolkien

At Wolvercote they have a lovely Chapel there where they can hold funeral services. I think it’s a nice alternative to a crematorium. Crematoriums to me are not very personal, you get your 30 mins slot then you are out and another family are straight in. There is always lots of other families in the car parks or outside waiting for their service. Sadly it feels like a conveyor belt which is very sad.

With Chapels and especially the chapel at Wolvercote you certainly have exclusivity to the Chapel and as much time as you like. No rush to get in to get out and the Chapel is lovely with much more character and privateness than crematoriums

Essentially you have the funeral service at the Chapel then you can go over to the crematorium after for either a very short just family only service for 15 mins or a direct cremation. Funeral directors do this often and Im sure even they prefer Chapels than Crematoriums for the control and privacy that can be had

Don’t worry there is 4G there so we can live stream or help with videography for the service for you if that what you wish

Below are a few photos we took while at Wolvercote of JRR Tokien Grave and the Chapel
